I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain – A Summer of Extremes

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic a slew of natural perils catastrophes saw Australia experiencing not one, but several large insurance losses due to natural disasters. Severe thunderstorm and hailstorms caused extensive damage, and losses in aggregate were larger than those from bushfires, demonstrating how susceptible Australia is to more volatile extreme weather conditions as the climate changes.
