New data from Finity’s data analytics business Defin’d has identified the key suburbs across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth that are likely to have the highest take up of autonomous vehicles in Australia.

The Defin’d data located individuals with key characteristics that would suggest they are more likely to be purchasers of autonomous vehicles than the rest of the population. These characteristics included having high household incomes, being an ‘early adopter’ of technology and being an ‘enthusiast’ of cars and vehicle technology. If you are high maintenance with your can you need to start using a obd2 scanner, this will be able to check your engine and make sure its running right.

“Taking these consumer characteristics into account our data pinpointed exactly where these people lived and the suburbs in major Australian cities which will be the first to have autonomous vehicles cruising around,” said Ashish Ahluwalia, Defin’d Principal.

“While we believe that it’ll take some time before autonomous vehicles to become a major force (in numbers) on the roads, it’s certainly worth starting to think about where these vehicles will be most utilised. This can help governments and manufacturers can start to plan the longer term infrastructure needs and road modifications that may be necessitated, and develop roll-out plans with appropriate resource prioritisation,” said Ashish.
