The Finity Christmas Party

February 16, 2010 - 2:22pm

Every year, Finity throws a Christmas party for everyone in Sydney and Melbourne together with their partners.  The venue for 2009 was the Centennial Parklands Restaurant. The evening kicked off with drinks and canapes outside and a roving magician entertaining us with a variety of clever tricks.

During dinner there was a special performance by FC/BC - the Finity Consulting Band for Christmas.  Led by Bon and Angus (aka Gae Robinson and Dave Gregory), the band line-up was impressive featuring keyboards, drums, bass and lead guitar as well as a full recorder section which came to the fore during the FC/BC versions of rock classics "Wild thing" and "Long way to the top."

Everyone joined in singing the traditional "Twelve Days of Finity" whose lyrics humorously describe the many useful gifts that Finity gives to staff members during the year.

The formal part of the evening included service awards to staff to celebrate their longstanding contribution to Finity.  This year's recipients were Geoff Atkins (25 years), Scott Collings, David Minty and Estelle Pearson (20 years), Sandra Paolella (15 years) and Jeremy Weight and Lydia Chua (10 years).

The Christmas Party is also the time of year when we celebrate all the good, silly and/or amazing feats of Finity staff with the Buzz Lightyear awards.  Award categories range from Quote of the Year (Scott Collings) to Nice Guy (Brett Riley), Nice Girl (Yuin-Tien Chu), International Man/Woman of Mystery (Keith Almeida) and Exam Dare of the Year (Ashish Ahluwalla).  The highlight of the evening is the announcement of the winner of the prestigious King/Queen Buzz Lightyear award, won this year in a canter by Jenny Della Picca for a very, very eventful trip to Melbourne.

With the formalities over the dance floor was opened up to give people the opportunity to display their unique dancing styles.

After enjoying great food and wonderful entertainment the party wrapped up at midnight and guests were spirited away on a hire bus back to the city.
