The graduate role at Finity
Variety
The General Insurance industry is very dynamic and offers a lot of variety. As a graduate at Finity, you will work across a range of areas, including volatility and capital management, reinsurance and risk management, as well as the core disciplines of valuation and pricing. Our work is project-based, and at any one time you will be involved in three to five projects of different types. You will usually work in teams with between two and eight members. You will be exposed to a variety of classes of business - long tail and short tail - including property, liability, workers' compensation, medical indemnity and lenders' mortgage insurance.
Environment
Our office is open plan, so you will be working alongside your more experienced colleagues. This has some important benefits: you can easily access others when working with them, and you can learn a lot from watching and hearing the way they work and the way they interact with each other and with clients. In this way you will be learning directly from industry leaders.
Our structure is non-hierarchical, and everyone is expected to have something of value to contribute to the team and to the way we manage our firm. We don't classify people purely on their number of years' experience or amount of grey hair!
Also key to our environment is our friendliness and emphasis on fun. At Finity you can expect your work commitments to be supplemented by a range of social and sporting commitments - regular lunches, charity events, team sports, Friday night drinks, Finity days out.
As well having a manager, when you join us you will have a nominated 'buddy' to help you to settle in to Finity as quickly as possible.
Exposure to clients
We will encourage and support you in quickly gaining experience with a range of clients. You will have client contact from day one so that your consulting skills develop alongside your technical skills.
Remuneration
We have excellent remuneration, including a generous bonus system and opportunities for shareholder participation.
Training
Our training and development program will provide you with support in the development of your technical skills, your consulting skills and your effective management skills. When you come on board as a graduate you will take part in a specific technical training program designed to hone your skills.
We provide further learning opportunities as you progress to support your development as a consultant. Training covers areas like presentation skills, business communication, project management, business development.
Study support
We benchmark ourselves to ensure that we provide industry best study leave and financial support. Our size means we have quite a number of people studying at any time, so there are opportunities to form study groups and to call on your experienced colleagues to help with their insights into the subject material.
Firm involvement
We also encourage everyone - including graduates - to get involved in R&D, and to play a role in the management of our business and our practice.
