Finity at the 2010 Corporate Games
April 1st, 2010
Finity has always batted above its weight in the general insurance market, but on Sunday 21 March 2010 this was translated to the water in the form of our inaugural Corporate Games Dragon Boating team. The crew comprised 21 of Finity’s staff ranging from first year actuarial students to our Managing Director, Estelle Pearson.
Under the expert guidance of full time Principal and part time coach Tim Andrews, the team performed admirably and recorded steadily improving times throughout the day. Unfortunately our efforts on the day proved only good for last place, but a fun day was had by all and we left with a strong sense of determination as we prepare for 2011.
The previous day had seen a group of Finity staff, again ranging from students to Principals, competing at the table tennis competition. Finity put in a good show being the second largest team at the event.
The day was warm and the sweat was running freely as we took on the very strong competition and delivered some good results. Alice Huang and Karla Hurst are the 2010 Corporate Games Women’s doubles champions. Alice was extremely pleased to win her second ever medal, her first being for a maths competition. Karla was also runner up in the singles event and Mark Hurst came third in a very competitive men’s singles event. The Hurst family success is not a surprise to those who know that Mark and Karla met through playing competitive table tennis as youngsters!
Well done to both teams!
